Welcome to MarshComms: the home of engineering editorial
Steve has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Loughborough University of Technology, and a Master of Environmental Engineering degree from Melbourne University. Through his career, he has worked in civil engineering, tunnelling, surveying, insurance risk engineering, and Special Forces military communications. Since 2008 Steve has utilised these skills to specialise in public relations and copywriting.
Realising that generic PR companies often lack the expertise to adequately communicate technological information, and that people with the right technical background rarely have the writing skills to communicate complex subjects in a way that can be easily understood, Steve used his engineering credentials to establish his own company — MarshComms — in early 2011 to meet the niche requirement for technical editorial.
As a technology writer, Steve believes in the importance of developing long-term relationships with clients in order to better understand their products and solutions. Today, he provides quality editorial content to a number of Australian-based and international clients across the fields of lighting, lighting control, broadcast infrastructure, communications infrastructure, drive solutions, industrial automation, compressed air solutions, and tool manufacturing.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Steve does not see national boundaries as an obstacle to the delivery of accurate and engaging editorial. In his earlier career, Steve travelled in a professional capacity to Afghanistan, Australia, Bahrain, Belize, Egypt, France, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, the UK and the USA.
More recently, as a technology writer, Steve has used this experience to engage with subject matter experts across the globe — in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Malaysia, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, the UAE, the UK and the USA — to develop interesting articles from around the world for his clients.
If you have the need to communicate technological information and have been disappointed with what the generic PR industry can offer, perhaps MarshComms can provide the answer.
